Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuhal Erden

Short Biography

Dr. Zuhal Erden received her B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the Mechanical Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. She worked in ASELSAN Electronics Industries Inc. as a design engineer between 1989 and 1991, and in the Mechanical Engineering Department of METU as a research and teaching assistant between 1991 and 1997.

After her employment in Bilkent University and in Cankaya University, Dr. Erden joined Atilim University in 1999 and currently she is a faculty member in the Mechatronics Engineering Department. She was the co-founder of a PhD Program on “Modelling and Design of Engineering Systems (MODES)” and she established “Design Methodology and Behavior Based Robot Design Laboratory” in Atilim University.

Her research interests are Engineering Design Theory and Methodology-Functional Representation, Process and Product Models of Engineering Design, Behaviour Based Design, Applications of Petri Nets in Design Modelling, Bioinspired Design Methodology, and Modular Robot Design.
