Prof. Dr. Yan Wang: Smartness, resilience, trust, and risks in cyber-physical-social systems

Abstract

The design space of cyber-physical-social systems (CPSS) is formed by the subspaces in physical, virtual, and mental world. Some of the unique design challenges include resilience and adaptability in the physical world for smartness, as well as the perceptions of trust and risks in the mental world.

In this talk, an overview of the recent research efforts in developing smart cyber-physical materials, enhancing system reliability and resilience, as well as quantifying trustworthiness and sociotechnical risks associated with CPSS will be provided.

. In addition, a network level probabilistic modeling framework for CPSS architecture design will be presented, which enables us to design and optimize the complex systems of systems with the objectives of resilience and trust.
